Please note, the date eligible voters can expect to receive their voting instructions is November 1, 2017, not October 16, 2017 as previously stated. Our apologies for any confusion this may have caused.

An election of the Benchers of the Law Society of Alberta will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.

We draw your attention to Rules 7-14 of the Rules of the Law Society of Alberta.

The important dates regarding the election are as follows:

September 15, 2017: Nominations must be received in the Law Society’s office by this date. If you plan to submit your candidacy, please review the Nomination Form and Bencher Election Protocol.

September 15, 2017: Members who are active on this date, according to the records of the Law Society, are eligible to appear on the official voter list.

November 1, 2017: Voting instructions will be sent via email to eligible voters. The preferred email address on file with the Law Society will be used. These instructions will enable voters to access the ballot.

November 1, 2017: Online voting period opens. While the election date is set as November 15, 2017, you may cast your vote online any time during the voting period.

November 15, 2017: Election date. Online voting period closes on this date at 4:30 p.m. (MST). The vote tally will occur immediately after 4:30 p.m. (MST) on November 15 and results will be made public shortly thereafter.

We invite candidates to submit their nomination packages beginning August 15.

Nominations must be received in the Law Society’s office by September 15.
